To lower your chance of a DNF:
1. Expect the unexpected
Things can and will go wrong during an ultra. Weather, nutrition, unexpected aches & pains…
2. Accept & adapt
Rather than worrying about what went wrong, think about how you’ll work through this challenge. Clothing, pacing, hydration, breathing exercises…
3. Draw hard quitting lines BEFORE the event
Your mind WILL play games on you. Be as clear as possible BEFORE the race on when you allow yourself to quit and when you don’t.
4. Learn from your challenges
After being disappointed, don’t assume you’ve reached a limit. Instead, ask yourself: “What can I learn from this to become a stronger runner and person?”
