Some athletes recently asked for a specific example of DNF criteria.
So, what example would be better than Karel's personal criteria?
Here are the only 3 reasons Karel would ever allow himself to quit a race:
1) Acute, sharp & repetitive pain: when every step hurts like a knife stab
2) Hypothermia: when the cold makes you shake uncontrollably
3) Overheating: when you throw up, feel dizzy, or have a sharp headache because of the heat
These are not to be confused with feeling terribly fatigued, being in general pain, feeling cold and miserable, or just feeling uncomfortable in the heat.
Feeling bored, feeling like you go too slow, "thinking" the pain might become too much in the future, and not understanding how you'll be able to finish the race also don't qualify as DNF criteria for Karel.
I hope this example makes the DNF Criteria idea more tangible. And keep in mind, there's no such thing as thé DNF criteria for everyone. Everyone has different needs & goals, so everyone needs to have their own DNF criteria.
