How do you train elevation when you have no hills around?
Here are 5 options to consider:
1. Wall sitting (randomly throughout the day)
2. Tree sitting before you start hill repetitions*
3. Jumping squats or lungers before every repeat**
4. Go into the gym and focus on lower body strength
5. Go into the gym and go on the treadmill at 15% or use the Stairmaster
*It’s not because you don’t have hills similar to your race’s (e.g. 1000m) that you can’t practice with short hills (e.g. 30m). Fatiguing your legs before every repeat by tree sitting or doing jumping exercises makes these workouts more effective/specific.
