Pain will be part of your ultra. However well you might be prepared, it will come.
But not all pain is created equal.
Do not actively "search" for pain and "epicness" and make sure you have a good foot care strategy, train smart, and eat well.
Then, when the pain inevitably comes, focus on the beauty of your surroundings, try to run with other people, and stay positive. Don't go down that negative spiral.
Put your pain into perspective. There are people in far more pain and worse situations than yours. Pain is in the mind. Don't succumb to it.
